Asphalt Road Show in Minnesota, Aug. 20
Minnesota to Host Asphalt Road Show on Aug. 20

The Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA), the Federal Highway Administration, LHB, Inc. and the Asphalt Pavement Alliance are sponsoring a one-day Asphalt Road Show in Brooklyn Park, Minn. on August 20, 2008. The theme of the Asphalt Road Show is “The Sustainable Pavement.” Asphalt is the sustainable material for constructing pavements. From the production of the paving material, to the placement of the pavement on the road, to rehabilitation, through recycling, asphalt pavements minimize impact on the environment.

Speakers at the Asphalt Road Show will talk about in-place recycling/rubblization, RAP, life cost analysis, warm mix asphalt, stormwater management with HMA, and other related topics in this day-long event that begins at 8:00 a.m. View the program schedule here. The Asphalt Road Show will be of interest to agency officials, consultants, contractors, researchers, and specifiers. A total of 6.0 professional development hours (PDH’s) are available for attending the program.

APA Announces Release of PerRoadXpress Software

The Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA) has announced the release of new PerRoadXpress software for the design of Perpetual Pavements. The new low- and medium-volume road and parking lot version of the popular PerRoad pavement design program is available free from the APA Web site.

This addition to the PerRoad software design suite supplements the full design capabilities of PerRoad 3.2. This new design package is an easy-to-use, all-on-one-screen program for designing Perpetual Pavements for low- and medium-volume roads and parking lots. PerRoadXpress allows the designer either to use defaults for traffic and soil, or to input the actual values if they are known. Granular base thicknesses from 0 to 10 inches are included. If the average yearly modulus of the asphalt pavement is known, then it can be input by the user, or if it is not known, a default value can be selected. ...

Hot-Mix Asphalt for Silage Floors and Feeding Bunkers
New Brochure Hot-Mix Asphalt for Silage Floors and Feeding Bunkers Now Available

The APA is pleased to offer a new resource entitled Hot-Mix Asphalt for Silage Floors and Feeding Bunkers.

The goal of a successful stock or dairy farm is to obtain the most sanitary conditions at the least cost. Paving cattle pens, feed lots, silage platforms, and bunker and stack silos with hot-mix asphalt (HMA) has proven to be a good way to achieve this goal — because HMA pavements are economical, durable and easily constructed.
